Learn about the Vikings, their way of life, the Sacred Runes, metal work, sea voyaging, trading as far East as China and especially their Edda’s and sagas leaving behind rich mythological explanations for their world.

Students will explore the Greek myths. Who were their Gods? What do they tell us about the values and culture of ancient Greek civilization? Students will break up into small groups and write an adaptation, act and direct their own short play of a myth of their choice.
Why was Medusa so misunderstood? Go with Persephone to Hades and back. Find out why Aphrodite and Hephaestus had drama. Why Eros' arrows of love can be dangerous. Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades these brothers ruled the world from the heavens, the seas and the underworld! Least we not forget Hecate goddess of magic, night, and moon.
What do these myths reveal about us today? Is humanity still facing the same challenges as the ancient Greeks?

We Are Jazz

Join us as we travel through history to the Jazz era in New Orleans. Learn the response musicians, writers and immigrants had to the Jim Crow South’s oppressive laws. This play treats prejudice, women’s suffrage, and human rights. It tells the beautiful story of immigrants from all over the world who came together to create the democratic experiment of acceptance that transformed the world and continues to do so today. Where every culture is celebrated and contributes to the sound of freedom.
Students will learn about and perform songs from New Orleans earliest jazz musicians including Jelly Roll Morton & Louis Armstrong.
